1004X EX-VIEW LONG EXPOSURE ASTRO CAMERA
M33 (TRIANGULUM) GALAXY
VC200L FL 1250mm f6.3 16th August 2002
MOSAIC OF 3 IMAGES EACH 8x30sec
This large galaxy (covering an area of the sky of about 4 full moons) was difficult to image as it has low surface brightness giving low contrast against the background sky. It was also larger than the coverage CCD chip, necessitating stiching 3 images together in a mosaic. Even so, including the faint outlying areas would have meant imaging an area 4 times as large as this image.
